The small set of gear that keeps a campfire session enjoyable without turning the truck into a touring warehouse.
A dependable campfire rig is one comfortable acoustic guitar, a padded bag, clip-on tuner, capo, spare strings, picks, strap and a small battery light. Add amplification only when the group is too large for the instrument alone.
Keep the first version acoustic
The best campfire setup is fast to carry and hard to forget. A Taylor GS Mini Sapele or GS Mini Mahogany is easier to move around chairs and coolers than a full-size guitar. A full dreadnought still makes sense when you need more natural volume, but the instrument should fit the night rather than the other way around.
Start without a speaker. Natural sound keeps the session social and avoids batteries, cables and volume arguments. A small PA becomes useful for larger gatherings, ceremonies or outdoor spaces where vocals disappear before the guitar does.
Pack the items that prevent the night from ending
A broken string, dead tuner battery or missing pick can stop a casual session faster than any tone problem. Keep the essentials together in the guitar bag so the kit is ready when you leave.

Add power only for a clear reason
